ABOUT THE ASSOCITE DIRECTOR

Ms. Tiffany Daniels is the Founder, Executive & Artistic Director of the Nubian Cultural
Center, and it's Healing through the Arts Dance program. A native of Louisville, KY and
mother of one son, Ms. Daniels relocated to Chicago in 1972. Inspired by her mother, Ms.
Daniels has been in the social service field for over sixteen years in the capacity of
Case Manager, Crisis Intervention/Placement Stabilization Worker, and Teen REACH
Specialist. Educationally, Ms. Daniels received her BA & MA in Inner City Studies
Education at Northeastern Illinois University.
Ms. Daniels has always had a passion for the Arts. She received a Music Scholarship to
Jackson State University majoring in Voice Performance. Ms. Daniels formal dance
training began at the tender age of five. She has received technical and theoretical training
from the Jewel McNair Dance Studio, Mayfair Academy, Sundance Performance Center,
Blyden Center for Creative Development, Muntu Dance Company, Bryant Ballet Company,
and the Joel Hall Dance Center.
Deeply rooted in her African/American Heritage, Ms. Daniels has the desire to leave a legacy
to children who are creatively expressive regardless of age, size, gender and ethnicity.
She founded the BCYS Prevention through Dance Program at Beatrice Caffrey Youth Services
in 1995, as a creative approach to combat the negative influences in urban communities. In
2008 and 2009, Ms. Daniels received the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Neighborhood
Arts Grant, where she provides Healing through the Arts Multi-disciplined Dance Workshops
to various Public and Charter Schools who lack culturally enriched arts programs in Chicago.
It is her hope that the Nubian Cultural Center will give children and their families an
empowering alternative, and an optimistic and purposeful future.
Tanya M. Haven is the Co-Founder and Associate Director of the Nubian Cultural Center. She

Youth Worker, Case Management, Crisis Intervention/Placement Stabilization, and a Program
Manger for Beatrice Caffrey's Teen Reach program.
Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Inner City Studies
Education from Northeastern Illinois University. She's also certified in Food Service Manager
from the Chicago Department of Public Health and Portable & Editing Producer at Chicago
Access Network Television (CAN TV).
Tanya's expert skills in implementing youth programs, community collaboration and
fundraising have help her become a valuable resource in underserved communities. She
received an award in 2001 for her dedicated service to Beatrice Caffrey Youth Service, and in
2005 she received a Recognition Award from Argosy Women's Conference for outstanding
performance in the Grand Boulevard community.
Tanya's desire to work with children started at the age of 14, while being employed as a
summer youth worker. During that time she knew she wanted to aide and assist children and
provide them educational, cultural, and recreational activities. Her ultimate goal is to provide a
safe haven for children, where they can express their artistic and creative talents.
